A ghost story you have to escape
Whatever you hear tonight, don't open the door.
One haunted house. One night to get out.
Out Saturday 10 October · 6pm UK
The house opens Saturday 10 October at 6pm UK time.
Play alone if you're brave enough, or bring up to five friends for a night of secrets, suspicion and increasingly questionable decisions.
Sallow House doesn't just give you puzzles to solve. It watches. It listens. It chooses favourites. And the deeper you go, the less certain you'll be about who, or what, you can trust.
Your house. Your friends. Your nightmare.
One Game Pass: go it alone, or with up to five friends. The house opens Saturday 10 October at 6pm UK time, and your 30 days start then.
Contains flashing light, loud sounds and jump scares. Health info

Everyone joins from their own device, in any browser. The house saves your place.
This is not a night of quietly solving puzzles.
It's shouting “WAIT, GO BACK.”
It's discovering something on your phone and refusing to tell everyone else.
It's your friend being absolutely certain they've cracked it.
They haven't.
It's arguments. Accusations. Tiny victories. Terrible decisions.
And somewhere amongst all of that, it's the creeping realisation that Sallow House knows rather more about your group than it should.
Get your favourite people together. Turn the lights down. And see who you'd actually trust in a haunted house.
What our play testers are saying
“Played it Friday night with friends and honestly haven't laughed that much in ages. Half the evening was solving clues and the other half was accusing each other of lying.”

You're sent to Sallow House to catalogue a dead woman's belongings. The housekeeper has gone home. She left you this.
A note on the hall table. Open it
Sir or Madam —
Lamp and matches on the table. The range is lit and there is bread and cheese in the kitchen. I will come back at seven.
Whatever you hear, do not open the door to anyone who knocks. Miss Vane was most particular.
— E. Ridley.
Two iron bolts slide home across the front door. Nobody touched them.
The lamp leans, gutters, and goes out.
And something outside is waiting to be let in.
Five rooms. One lamp. Until midnight.
Every room in Sallow House has something to tell you.
Not all of it is true.

The hall.

The kitchen.

The study.

The nursery.

The passage.

Everyone holds a piece. Nobody holds enough.
The moment you enter Sallow House, your group stops seeing the same game.
Secrets split. Clues appear where only one person can see them. One of you might know something the others don't. And occasionally, the house has something to say that is meant for you alone.
So talk. Compare. Accuse. Keep secrets if you dare.
Because getting out means working together. The problem is, Sallow House is very good at turning you against each other.
Together on the sofa or miles apart on a video call: everyone joins from their own device.

Most escape rooms wait for you to solve them.
Sallow House doesn't.
It reacts. It interferes. It remembers.
And occasionally it does something that makes everyone in the room stop talking.
We're not telling you what. You'll understand when it happens.

The house isn't just watching the game.
It's watching you play it.
Give Sallow House permission and the experience becomes even more unpredictable, reacting to your group in ways we're deliberately not going to explain here.
You'll know when it happens.
Completely optional. Nothing is recorded and you can switch it off at any time.
Get out. Then brag about it.
Escaping Sallow House is one thing. Escaping faster than everyone else is another.
Every successful team has a time. The quickest earn their place on The Still Room leaderboard.
So yes, technically you're trying to escape a haunted house. But you're also trying to beat everyone who went in before you.

Escaping isn't everything.
Sallow House rewards the curious.
Hidden throughout the game are 10 Easter eggs that have absolutely nothing to do with escaping.
Some are just there to be found. Some unlock secrets. And some hide secret swag.
Go back.
Look harder.
Try something different.
Chase a faster time. How many will your team find?

What our play testers are saying
“There was one moment where all four of us just went completely silent. I won't spoil it, but you'll know.”
“We escaped and immediately went back in because we'd only found 4 of the Easter eggs. Three days later we're STILL talking about where the others could be.”

Before you go in
THE STILL ROOM is for ages 16 and up. We mean it.
There's nothing gory in it. It is simply unsettling, and it's built to be.
There are jump scares: anyone can switch them off just for themselves, and still play the whole game.
There is dread: you can't switch that off.
And if you look away from the tab, the house notices.
Play with the lights down.
Before the bolts slide home
When can we play?
The house opens Saturday 10 October at 6pm UK time. Your Game Pass is confirmed the moment you buy it, and we email you as soon as the door is open. Your 30 days of access start then, not when you buy, so a Game Pass bought today loses nothing.
What if it's delayed?
We don't expect it to be. If we are late opening, your 30 days start when we do, and you can ask for a full refund. If the delay is more than 14 days, we refund you automatically. Details are in the terms.
What do we need?
The phones already in your pockets: every player uses their own device, in any web browser, with nothing to install. A laptop, computer or tablet gives the biggest, best view; a phone works too, turned sideways. A TV makes the house bigger. Lights off makes it worse.
Will it work on my device?
Works on most phones, tablets and computers from the last five years. You need iOS or iPadOS 16.4 or newer, Safari 16.4 or newer on a Mac, or Chrome, Edge or Firefox 111 or newer.
How many can play?
One to six, all on one Game Pass. In a group everyone brings their own phone, because each phone holds clues nobody else has. That is where the arguing starts.
Can we play if we're not in the same place?
Yes. Get everyone on a video call, each on their own device, and share the house on screen. Distance won't make it any less frightening.
How long does it take?
60–90 minutes for most groups: a proper evening in. Progress saves if you need a breather, and you have 30 days to finish.
Does it use my camera or microphone?
Completely optional. Nothing is recorded and you can switch it off at any time. It is off unless you switch it on, and every puzzle works without it.
Is it too scary for some of us?
Anyone can switch the jump scares off, just for themselves, and still play the whole game. Nobody else is told, and their scares carry on. The atmosphere stays.
Is it safe for everyone?
THE STILL ROOM is safe for most people to play. It is a ghost story you play on your phone: unsettling, with nothing gory. It is built to frighten, though, so here is what is in it. None of this is meant to put you off. It is so you can decide, and look after the people playing with you.
Flashing light and photosensitive epilepsy. There are brief flashes of light: lightning in a storm, and a few sudden flickers when something appears. Lightning never flashes more than three times in a second. Even so, if you or anyone playing has photosensitive epilepsy, or has ever had a seizure triggered by flashing lights, please check with your doctor first, or play with jump scares off. With them off there is no lightning and no sudden flash. Stop playing at once if you feel unwell.
Sudden sounds, your heart and pregnancy. Jump scares come with sudden loud sounds, and being startled can raise your heart rate and blood pressure for a moment. If you have a heart condition or high blood pressure, are pregnant, or have been told to avoid shocks and startles, please think carefully before playing, or play with jump scares off, which removes the sudden stingers.
Headphones and volume. Please don't turn the volume right up to hear the quiet parts, because headphones put sound very close to your ears. Start low and turn it up only as far as you need. Turn on Gentler scares (on the ready card, and at the top of the game) and the loudest sounds are held to a ceiling, so the jolts are quieter.
Anxiety, panic, PTSD and frightening themes. The story is about a family, a house and the deaths of children and adults in its past. It also plays with being watched, a face in a mirror, and things that are not there when you look. If you live with anxiety, panic attacks or PTSD, or the themes are close to home, this may land harder than you expect. It is completely fine to skip it, or to switch jump scares off and play for the story.
Motion. A few moments move the picture: a small shake, a slow zoom, a figure rushing forward. If you are prone to motion sickness, dizziness or migraines, turn on Gentler scares for a softer shake and quieter jolts, and turn on Reduce Motion in your device's accessibility settings: the shake, zoom and rushing movement stop, and lightning becomes a slow glow. Gentler scares starts on by itself if your device already asks for reduced motion.
Children. THE STILL ROOM is rated 16+. Please don't let younger children play or watch, and keep an eye on anyone with you who seems frightened.
You are always in control. You can stop at any time: your progress is saved and you have 30 days to finish. The host chooses whether jump scares are on when the game opens, and anyone can tap “Leave a light on” at the top of their screen at any moment to turn off their own jump scares, flashes and sudden sounds, or “Gentler scares” to soften their own shake and jolts. Nobody else is told, and the story carries on. Take a break whenever you like: look away, step outside, have a drink of water. If you feel unwell, stop playing, and if it doesn't pass, speak to a doctor.
What if someone has to leave partway?
The house doesn't wait for them. The game carries on, and whatever was in their pockets is shared out among the players still there. If they come back, they rejoin the game and can ask for their things back.
Who is it not for?
Under-16s. Anyone who wants jump scares with no reading or puzzling. And anyone after a five-minute distraction: this fills an evening.
Getting ready? How to play has the three rules for the best night: sound on, one device each, screen awake.

Sallow House is waiting.
You know enough. Probably more than you should.
Get your group together. Turn down the lights.
And whatever happens tonight…
don't open the door.
